Boosterthon Fun Run

We had so much fun participating in the Boosterthon Fun Run this morning. Each Doodlebug was able to run the FULL 35 LAPS! WOW, go Doodlebugs. Be sure to congratulate them when they get home today. They worked very hard.

Just a reminder, that tonight is the LAST NIGHT to get pledges for the Boosterthon Fun Run. Please visit www.funrun.com if you received any more pledges. Remember that this fundraiser is helping to make much needed improvements to our playground for our students. Thank you again for all of your help! The doodlebugs are currently up to $16 dollars per lap! Let's see if we can make it to $20!

Reading with the Allen Eagles

The Allen Eagles Football team came to Bolin Elementary today! A few players from the Allen Eagles Football Team came in to the Doodlebug classroom and read to us! After they read to us, we went in the hallway and cheered the football team,cheerleaders and a few band members on! We LOVE our Allen Eagles!

REMINDER TO PARENTS: Parents please remember tomorrow is our Character Book Parade. Students may dress up as their favorite character in a story. Please remember to have your child bring in their book! (Don't forget to pack tennis shoes for P.E.) We will have a quick parade through the hallways following announcements.

Exploring our Community

This week we have been talking about our community. Today we got to explore our community on Google Maps! First we looked up Bolin Elementary, and then we googled each of our addresses, and showed our friends where we live. We had so much fun exploring. :)

Mock Election

Today we participated in a Mock Election that the 5th and 6th graders hosted for our school. It was so much fun!

We had to remember to be quiet while voting!

A few reminders:

Parents, please make sure you turn in your field trip forms, book bag slips, and confirmed conference paper. (I apologize because I know there was a lot that went home yesterday.) Keep in mind, we need several volunteers for the Zoo. If you are able to attend, we would love your help. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Storybook Character Parade

Doodlebug Parents,

On Friday, October 26th, we will be dressing up as our favorite storybook character. You will need to bring in the book that matches your costume. Please-nothing scary, no weapons, no witches/ghosts, or dyed hair. Be thinking of what you want to be! :)

September Trail Blazer: Addison

My September trailblazer is: Addison

Addison was recognized at Bolin's PTA Meeting in October for filling friends “buckets” with compliments when they do a great job, and showing her friends/teachers respect by being a great listener.

Every month, a student from each classroom (K-6) is chosen to be a Trail Blazer

at Bolin Elementary, and recognized at that months PTA meeting.

Western Day on Friday

Doodlebug Parents:

We are going to have Western Day at Bolin on Friday, October 5th. Feel free to dress your child in Western gear such as boots, jeans, hats, bandanas, ect. No guns or holsters, please. If your child does wear boots, please be sure to send a pair of tennis shoes for P.E. Thank you!

Pizza Hut "Book It" Reading Program

We are starting the Pizza Hut “Book It” Reading program this month.  Each month, the student will color in the picture if they read for 20 minutes that day. (You will find the form in their purple folder today.) Please help your child to record the time they read and color the pictures on the calendar.  Sign and return the completed form to school by the end of each month.  A personal pizza coupon will be given to each child that reaches the goal.  Let’s start READING for PIZZA!!!
