Happy 50's Day!

We enjoyed celebrating 50's day today at school! (I can't believe there are only 46 days left.) I hope everyone has a great long Easter weekend. I look forward to seeing the doodlebugs on Monday. :)

UPScheck

The doodlebugs have been practicing solving word problems in math. We have started doing addition using the UPScheck model. This is something you can work on with your child at home to help reinforce math problem solving skills.

We have Bloomed

This week, we read the book Leo the Late Bloomer  and made text to self connections. We talked about how when we started kindergarten we had not yet fully bloomed, and now we are starting to bloom a little bit more each day. We have learned many new skills this year! Here is a peak at some of our writing journals...

We have had a great start to our first week back after Spring Break!

Spring Break

Thank you to everyone who came to Open House-it was a very successful night! The doodlebugs were so excited to show how hard they have been working this year. They loved learning about the different Texas symbols, and were very proud to share how much they knew!

I hope everyone has a wonderful and safe Spring Break! Can't wait to see the Doodlebugs back on March, 18th! :)

Open House Reminder

Parents,

Just a reminder that this Thursday, March 7th, is Bolin's Open House. It is from 5:30 p.m.-7:00 p.m.. This is a fun time for students to show you their work and their classroom. You will also want to check out the silent auction that will be taking place in the gym that night from 5:30-7:30. There are a lot of great things to bid on! Hope everyone is having a great week!

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss

Today we had fun celebrating Dr. Seuss's birthday! (His actual birthday is tomorrow, March 2nd.) We did a fun rhyming activity, a word scramble, and even watched Justin Beiber read "The Cat in the Hat" online! We also wrote about what we would do on a cold, rainy day. For more fun, visit http://www.seussville.com !

This afternoon, we went to the science lab! We have been discussing the importance of rocks/soil this week, and got to open our very own "Geodes" today. We observed the rocks, and discussed different characteristics. We also predicted what was going to happen once we cracked open the Geodes.

We discussed what important science safety rules we had to follow while in the science lab.

We broke open the Geodes with a hammer.

We were so surprised once we look inside the Geodes!

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!
