Daily 5

Today we talked about Daily 5! Daily 5 consists of literacy centers that teach independence and give children the skills needed to be successful in both reading and writing. Daily 5 consists of 5 different centers that are introduced individually. When introduced to each task, the children discuss what that center looks like, sounds like, and feels like to engage in them independently. Then, the children work on building their stamina until they are able to independently work on the task.  (I am sure your child will be very excited to tell you how we practiced our stamina today!) Today we introduced Read to Self. After all the centers have been introduced, I am then able to work with small groups while the students are engaged in their center.
